Joyce Stokes says that her daughter, 15-year-old Cateria Stokes, who was killed in a drive by shooting is the subject of Don Trip's "Lil' Homie," song, off his latest mixtape GodSpeed.
Joyce Stoke told WREG Memphis:
"He put that out in the streets about my family," the mother says of the track. "They didn't call no names, but everybody knows who they talking about."
"It hurt me so bad that somebody want to get fame and glory and get famous off my daughter getting killed in her sleep," Stokes says.
Police state they are investigating the song and think it may lead to new clues in Cateria Stokes murder.
Don Trip recently released GodSpeed which can be found on Itunes and now playing on HIPHOPDUGOUT radio.
[Verse 3] - Don Trip's "Lil Homie"
We Just went and crashed out
Prolly bodied everybody in the wrong house
Shit just made the news, said we just shot a baby
Damn... tell me anybody, not a baby
We just out for blood; we so trigger happy
Shootin' shit in broad day and hit some kid while she nappin'
We back in the hood braggin' 'fore we even knew what happened
We thought we got at Lil' Buddie, but we got the wrong addy
Detectives lookin' for me and it's over if they catch me
Send me up the river, there's a baby in a casket
Now the moral that we buggin' "We turned home into a hell"
We say "Black Lives Matter" we forgot to tell ourselves
